28/02/2018
The LACNIC Training Center provided training for more than 4,100 professionals representing public and private organizations throughout the region on topics such as information security, IPv6 deployment, IPv4 address exhaustion, Internet governance, Border Gateway Protocol and Resource Public Key Infrastructure, and the Internet of Things.
Trainings were offered through LACNIC’s online Campus. Both in-person workshops and online webinars were taught by international experts and professionals.
More than 3,100 people participated in the webinars and in-person workshops, while approximately 1,000 professionals completed our Basic IPv6, Advanced IPv6, BGP and RPKI courses.
IPv6, cybersecurity, and IPv4 exhaustion were the topics in highest demand.
2018 Training Offerings. In 2018, LACNIC will begin to offer training in the month of March, with the first of five editions of the Basic IPv6 course scheduled for the year. http://campus.lacnic.net/
This year, the basic course has fixed start and end dates and participants will only be able to register from the first to the tenth day of the month in which the e-learning activity is to take place (March, May, July, September, and November). This proposal is specifically geared towards network administrators, software developers, network equipment providers, students, teachers, and IT professionals.
In addition, three editions of the Advanced IPv6 course and three editions of the BGP Basics and Introduction to RPKI course have also been planned for 2018.
The Advanced IPv6 course has been designed for those who would like to further their knowledge of the IPv6 protocol.
The BGP and RPKI course is aimed at network administrators with prior knowledge of types of internal routing and TCP/IP.
One per Month. LACNIC has also decided to boost its online training tools, scheduling one webinar each month (http://www.lacnic.net/2466/2/lacnic/webinars). These webinars will be presented by leading experts and will be completely free of charge for the LACNIC community.
The first of these webinars was held on 22 February. Jorge Cano was the instructor responsible for the activity, which dealt with Jool, a tool that allows communication between IPv4 and IPv6 nodes without interrupting Internet access for users. Watch the webinar: http://bit.ly/2sOf1wz
