Getting Closer to Better Support Our Members

By Alfredo Verderosa, Chief Services Officer at LACNIC

Understanding firsthand what our members need, the challenges they face, and how we can better support them is a fundamental part of LACNIC’s work.

For this reason, since 2015, LACNIC has traveled across the region to engage directly with its member organizations. Through visits, working breakfasts, and participation in industry events, we seek to create opportunities for meaningful, direct dialogue that allow us to listen, provide guidance, and continuously improve our services.

Between 2024 and 2026, we strengthened this engagement by replacing door-to-door visits with working breakfasts and a greater presence at regional events, allowing us to broaden our reach. The results are worth sharing: hundreds of organizations reached, a satisfaction rate of nearly 98%, and, most importantly, concrete insights that are already translating into improvements for our membership.

Three Years of Engagement Across the Region

In 2024, we met with 214 member organizations in the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, El Salvador, and Guatemala. We were also present at Andina Link (Cartagena, Colombia), Internet Day (Buenos Aires, Argentina), and the CANTO event, where our booths served as spaces for consultation and dialogue.

In 2025, we expanded this approach by holding additional member breakfast meetings, building on a format we had introduced the year before. We organized gatherings in seven cities across five countries, bringing together more than 330 organizations—nearly 10% of our direct membership. Among those who provided feedback, 98% reported the highest levels of satisfaction.

During these meetings, we discussed topics including IPv4 and address transfers, IPv6 deployment, MiLACNIC, account security, and membership benefits.
