Call for Presentations for the LACNIC Technical Forum

The call for presentations for the LACNIC Technical Forum (FTL) which will take place during the LACNIC 29 event to be held from 30 April to 4 May in Panama will remain open until 6 February.
FTL is a new space within LACNIC’s annual events created for the international community to present their experiences, work, and initiatives related to technical aspects of Internet development in the Latin American and Caribbean region ( https://goo.gl/ZMkFVW )
All proposals will be evaluated by the FTL Program Committee and those selected will become part of the official program of the LACNIC Technical Forum.
The Program Committee is made up by representatives of the community (Azael Fernandez, Fabián Mejía, Fernando Gont), LACNOG (Jorge Villa and Tomas Lynch), and LACNIC staff (Guillermo Cicileo, Alejandro Acosta, César Díaz).
Technical Forum presentations must relate to regional Internet development. Preferred topics include success stories and best practices in network operation; professional experiences; architecture, sizing, configuration, and administration of IP networks; Internet protocols; operation and configuration of DNS services; applications for end users; added value services; Internet traffic exchange (Peering, IXPs); regional connectivity (submarine and land cables, current and future needs, role of governments); transition to IPv6 and IPv6 deployment; network data security and handling, attack mitigation; network monitoring, performance, measurements, and telemetry; network automation, evolution, and convergence; infrastructure and physical transport, including optical and wireless networks; initiatives for the deployment and operation of Internet of Things (IoT) projects; protocols related to the Internet of Things (IoT); research and education; programming; automation of network tasks and/or services; and autonomous networks.
The FTL Program Committee will assess the proposals between 7 and 23 February; selected applicants will have to submit their final work between 26 March and 19 April. For their assessment, the Program Committee will consider each submission’s originality, technical quality, experience, relevance, possibility of generalized application, and importance of the development.
Applicants selected to present at LACNIC29 will have their event registration fee covered, though they will still be responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses.
Those requiring financial support (accommodation and/or travel expenses) must request a sponsorship through LACNIC’s regular Sponsorship Program.
Acceptance of a proposal to be presented at the FTL does not imply that the author(s) will be granted financial assistance, although the submission of a proposal may be considered a plus during the sponsorship recipient selection process.
