LACNIC at the Preparatory Meeting for the Summit of the Americas
28/03/2012
In April 2012, the Heads of State of the region will meet in Cartagena, Colombia, for the Summit of the Americas. This meeting is particularly important, as it is the first to include issues relating to the Internet and connectivity on its agenda.
The Organization of American States (OAS) and the government of Colombia, the country hosting the meeting, have organized a series of preparatory consultation processes which are open to the participation of the various stakeholders. These contributions will be submitted to governments for their discussion.
In February this year, LACNIC participated in a preliminary meeting that took place in Washington DC, during which various recommendations relating to the Internet were prepared, among them the recommendation that governments should support existing initiatives as regards the administration of critical in resources.
