New Bulk Operations Module in MiLACNIC

By Gerardo Rada, Head of Systems Development at LACNIC

At LACNIC, we are committed to making resource management easier for our members. We are excited to introduce the new Bulk Operations Module in MiLACNIC, designed to simplify the management of large data volumes. This module allows automated operations for reading, creating, updating, and deleting records such as IP blocks, contacts, and ROAs.

How does the module work?

The process follows five key stages:

  • Preparation: Download a base file and use the provided CSV examples to ensure the format is correct.
  • Validation: The system checks the file and provides a preview before proceeding.
  • Execution: The user schedules the operation, and the system implements the changes.
  • Monitoring: Through 12 steps, the system progresses and generates reports on errors and execution.
  • Completion: A report is issued with results and the necessary information for retries.

Experiences and Future Improvements

During the hackathon at LACNIC 42 – LACNOG 2024, participants explored valuable use cases, such as updating contacts and optimizing IP assignments. These experiences are shaping the future improvements of the module.
