Call for Candidates for the IT Women Mentoring Program Is Now Open

LACNIC announced an open call for women who are part of the regional community to participate in the IT Women project’s mentoring program.

The initiative seeks to encourage the professional development of women of the technical Internet community of Latin America and the Caribbean, promoting their involvement in LACNIC’s participation spaces.

Applications will be received until 14 October after which six professional women will be selected to produce a technical paper documenting various challenges, experiences and solutions relating to Internet stability and security.

To do so, each selected participant will be mentored by a leader of the technical community for a period of six months. They will also receive training for preparing presentations and disseminating their work, support for their professional development, and the chance to present the results of their studies at a lightning talk during LACNIC 35. Selected participants will be announced on Wednesday 28 October.

The call is open to women who are part of the technical community residing in Latin America and the Caribbean who are interested in working on issues that will contribute to network deployment and management or to the promotion of the adoption and deployment of Internet standards in the region. Their work can focus on the study of Internet technologies as well as on documenting technical implementations.
