First Regional Latin American and Caribbean Meeting of Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs)

The First Regional Latin American and Caribbean Meeting of Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs) took place during the recent LACNIC XVI event with the participation of 12 different security teams from 6 different countries from around the region.

This first meeting was summoned within the framework of LACNIC’s Amparo Project (www.proyectoamparo.net), an initiative that promotes the creation of computer security incident response teams at sector or company level within the different countries that are part of the region.

The goals of this first activity were to promote networking, to encourage the exchange of experiences, and to analyze possible ways in which the Amparo Project might contribute to these initiatives. The positive response on the part of different groups and stakeholders and the excellent exchange of experiences and opinions regarding the region’s priorities evidence the fact that these goals were more than exceeded.

The meeting concluded with the agreement to hold a second meeting during the LACNIC XVII event which will be take place in Quito, Ecuador (6-11 May 2012) and an invitation to other teams to join this exchange of experiences.
