Results of the LACNIC Board Elections

A majority of LACNIC members voted for Rosalía Morales of Costa Rica and Gabriel Adonaylo of Argentina to fill the two positions that will be vacated on the LACNIC Board this 31st December.

Morales and Adonaylo received the highest number of votes out of a total of thirteen candidates. A total 6,719 organizations of the 33 territories that are part of the LACNIC service region were qualified to vote. In all, 1,371 votes were cast.

After the voting period, LACNIC’s Electoral Commission confirmed Rosalía Morales and Gabriel Adonaylo as the candidates who will fill two seats on the LACNIC Board for a three-year term beginning on 1st January 2018 and ending on 31st December 2020.

Elected Candidates. Rosalía Morales is currently serving as executive director of NIC Costa Rica, the organization responsible for managing .cr domain names. As such, she has led projects related to Internet Governance, Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), cybersecurity, infrastructure, and Internet policy, among others.

She is part of the Cross Community Working Group on Enhancing ICANN Accountability (CCWG-Accountability) which provides support for the transition to the new global administration of the Internet root, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) Strategy and Operations Group, and the organization of Latin American and Caribbean ccTLDs (LACTLD) Policy Group.

Gabriel Adonaylo has more than twenty years of experience in telecommunications and IT, and has consistently participated in the development of the Internet in Latin America.

Adonaylo was one of the founders and later vice president of NAP CABASE, and is considered one of the earliest promoters of the Regional Interconnection Forum. After serving on the LACNIC Fiscal Commission for ten years, he has been part of the LACNIC Board for the past two years.
