REGULATEL Visits Casa de Internet for Latin America and the Caribbean

By Ignacio Estrada

REGULATEL representatives visited Casa de Internet for Latin America and the Caribbean for an important meeting aimed at promoting development and collaboration within the regional Internet community.

The Latin American Forum of Telecommunications Regulators (REGULATEL) serves as a meeting space for flexible and efficient cooperation based on the exchange of experiences among its members. It is comprised of representatives from 23 different countries in Latin America and Europe (Italy, Portugal, and Spain).

This visit marked the second consecutive year of an ongoing effort by the Internet Technical Community in our region to strengthen understanding and cooperation between our organizations.

At the meeting, representatives from various Internet Technical Community organizations in the region, such as ICANN, Internet Society, LAC-IX, LACNIC, LACNOG, LACTLD, and RedClara, had the chance to share detailed insights into how the Internet works and the role that each one plays within this ecosystem. The group also discussed some of the current issues and tensions in the ecosystem.

This visit not only strengthens collaboration between regulators and Technical Community organizations in the region, but also helps to promote constructive dialogue and coordinated actions to address the challenges and opportunities within the ecosystem. The joint commitment of these entities reflects the spirit of cooperation and shared responsibility necessary to guarantee an inclusive and sustainable digital future for Latin America and the Caribbean.
