BGP Collectors at IXPs in the Region

Routing tables are a key source of information for understanding the behavior of the Internet routing system in our region. Their analysis allows observing, among other aspects, the number of advertised IPv4 and IPv6 prefixes, the average AS-path length, the use of ASN prepending, and various indicators that reflect the state and evolution of routing.
In this context, LACNIC is promoting a project to share this data with the regional technical community. The goal is to provide valuable tools for network operators and researchers, to simplify the detection of routing issues, and to contribute to a better understanding of the size, visibility, and dynamics of BGP tables, as well as of the stability and topology of the Internet across the region.
To do so, we operate BGP collectors that allow us to observe the routes advertised by members and produce statistics based on this information.

Periodic Reports
We have been working on a web portal with information from the collectors at each IXP. The portal is available at: https://reporte-ixps.labs.lacnic.net/
Reports include the following information:
- Published resources (with historical data)
- Prefix size
- ASNs advertising the largest number of prefixes
- Countries of originating ASNs and number of resources they advertise
- Bogons
- AS Path
- ASN prepending
Below are some examples of the information available on IXP collector reports.
