LACNIC 2026-2029 Strategy: Continuity, Commitment, and a Shared Future
December 4, 2025

Planning Committee, June 2025.
By Ernesto Majó, LACNIC CEO
Each new planning cycle offers us an opportunity to listen, learn, and collectively shape the path that LACNIC will follow in the coming years. More than simply defining goals, this process allows us to look ahead together with our community and members, acknowledging what we have learned and better preparing for what lies ahead.
The work on the new strategy that will guide us through the 2026-2029 period began last year. As in every planning cycle, the process involved broad participation and reaffirmed a practice that has guided us for more than two decades: collaboratively defining LACNIC’s direction to strengthen our mission and continue evolving alongside the Latin American and Caribbean Internet community.

A Collective Construction
In developing our strategy, we placed special emphasis on listening to the voices of our members, the technical community, the board of directors, our staff, regional (NIR) and global (RIR) Internet registry colleagues, and other stakeholders who are part of the Internet ecosystem. This approach provided us with a broad and diverse perspective that enriched our analysis and work with a view to the future.

Satisfaction surveys, support and visits to our members, meetings at various events and other dialogue spaces, along with the experience accumulated over these years, are key for identifying the lessons learned, opportunities, and challenges that guide our work into the future.
The result of this process is a roadmap that strengthens our core principles—transparency, participation, and excellence—and guides our efforts to continue fulfilling our purpose: serving our community and contributing to the development of an open, stable, and secure Internet.
