Expand your Professional Network at LACNIC 38-LACNOG 2022

By María Gayo, Communications Manager at LACNIC.

LACNIC events have always sought ways to maintain open participation channels for the technical community. This was accentuated by the pandemic, which prompted us to actively and permanently search for effective interaction spaces for both remote and face-to-face participation.

In line with this, I have put together a quick guide to show the various participation spaces that will be provided at the LACNIC 38- LACNOG 2022 event which will take place from 3 to 7 October in the city of Santa Cruz, Bolivia.

Before reading on, make sure you register and check out the details of the program we have put together for the upcoming event: technical panels marking LACNIC’s 20th anniversary, technical presentations at LACNOG, panels for small ISPs, IPv6 tutorials, an interconnection lab, among many other activities.

Hybrid event. Below you will find information about some of the spaces and platforms for interaction available to both virtual as well as to on-site participants.

Zoom events. This October, remote participants will be able to follow LACNIC 38-LACNOG 2022 from Zoom Events. For some sessions, the virtual meeting will offer simultaneous transcription and interpretation services in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, as well as a space for participants to share their questions with the speakers. Check out the agenda to find the sessions you would like to attend and see which services are available.

To access this platform, all you need is a Zoom account upgraded to its latest version. If you don’t have a Zoom account, click here to sign up.

Unlike Zoom webinars, Zoom Events include an event lobby that allows you to chat with other active participants, shows which parallel sessions are being held each day, allows exploring information about sessions and speakers, and creating your own personalized calendar with the sessions you would like to attend.

Sessions are also transmitted via YouTube Live. If you join the event through this platform, keep in mind that it is broadcast in the language used by each speaker and that there is no chat feature or Q&A space.

Discord. For several events now, we have been using a Discord channel where participants can comment and interact on specific or general topics as they are discussed during the week. Use this link to join: https://discord.gg/7jFQFnTzap

LACNIC Events App. If you download the event app from Google Play or the Apple store, you can create your own professional profile, connect with other participants and sponsors, and schedule meetings.

On-site participation. If you will be joining us in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, don’t miss the chance to share with other attendees and participate in our social events, schedule meetings in our networking rooms, visit the sponsors’ stands, and come by our 360º photo booth at the Convention Center.

If this is your first LACNIC event, don’t forget to join the Newcomers Session on Monday, 3 October at 8:30 Bolivia time.

In addition, at the LACNIC stand you can find answers to your technical questions and information related to the training courses and specializations offered on the LACNIC Campus.
