The second edition of the IT Women Mentoring Program remains open.

The IT Women Mentoring Program seeks to promote the participation of women who are part of the regional community.

After a successful first edition in 2020, this time the goal is to strengthen the program to promote the professional development of these women, encouraging their involvement in LACNIC’s participation spaces. As a result of this second call for applications, the program will select six professional women interested in producing technical papers to document different challenges, experiences, and solutions related to Internet stability and security.

The Program

The call is open to women with a technical profile who are interested in working on topics that will contribute to network deployment and management and/or to the promotion of Internet standards adoption and deployment in the region. These papers may focus on the study of Internet technologies, as well as on the documentation of technical implementations. 

Each selected participant will be mentored by a technical community leader, who will support them in their work for a period of six months. The six selected participants will also receive training on effective presentations and how to disseminate their work, support for their professional development, and the chance to present the results of their research during a session specifically designed to disseminate and provide visibility to the work of these women during the LACNIC 37 event. 

Topics

Research proposals should focus on areas that are relevant to the LACNIC community, such as the operation of IP networks, Internet protocols, the Domain Name System (DNS), interconnection of autonomous systems, IPv6, measurements, analyses and tools for protocols and the Internet in general, security, protocols and experiences related to the Internet of things (IoT), infrastructure and transport, value-added services (VPNs, distributed systems, cloud computing), research and education, and task programming and automation in networks and/or services.

The call for proposals will be open from Wednesday, 29 September to Friday, 12 November.
