Continuing with its plan to help train professionals in the different countries that make up the LAC region in order to promote IPv6 deployment and a better understanding of the Domain Name System (DNS), LACNIC supported the technical training workshops conducted by the Venezuelan National Telecommunications Commission and UNEFA, the National Experimental University of the Armed Forces of Venezuela.<\/p>\n
Completed during the months of January and February, activities included courses on DNS and IPv6 theory, as well as hands-on DNS and IPv6 workshops with the active participation of Alejandro Acosta, R+D engineer at LACNIC.<\/p>\n
Aimed at professionals working in the telecommunications sector, ccTLD (NIC.ve), Venezuelan military personnel, network operators, members of the technical community and academia in general, each of the courses was attended by approximately 150 participants.<\/p>\n
The DNS training benefited 159 representatives of public and private institutions in the states of Aragua, Carabobo, Capital District, Miranda, Monagas, Nueva Esparta, Lara, and Vargas.<\/p>\n
The IPv6 course was attended by 154 professionals representing organizations and companies in the states of Nueva Esparta, Vargas, Carabobo, Miranda, Monagas, and the Capital District.<\/p>\n
Acosta noted that training on the Domain Name System was divided into theory and a hands-on session during which participants simulated primary, secondary servers, zone transfers, DNS responses, and created various records.<\/p>\n
Likewise, the IPv6 theory course was complemented by a hands-on activity during which attendees learned how to configure the IPv6 protocol.<\/p>\n
Jos\u00e9 Pe\u00f1a \u2014who participated in the courses representing Telefonica de Venezuela\u2014 stressed the importance of DNS and IPv6 training for both the public and the private sectors. \u201cWe learned what we should do with the DNS in the operational phase, its benefits and how to configure our servers,\u201d said Pe\u00f1a.<\/p>\n
Likewise, Jorge Gonz\u00e1lez of UCLA of Venezuela, highlighted the relevance of the courses and the support provided by LACNIC to the National Telecommunications Commission and the National Experimental University of the Armed Forces of Venezuela. \u201cThis is an example of collaboration in two important aspects that will increase deployment: training and participation,\u201d he noted in his thank-you letter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
