These reports are an opportunity to step back and look at the broad sweep of change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can find our previous half yearly reports here:<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.peeringdb.com\/blog\/october_2024_retrospective\/\">one<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.peeringdb.com\/blog\/april_2025_product_update\/\">two<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.peeringdb.com\/blog\/sep_2025_product_update\/\">three<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.peeringdb.com\/blog\/update_oct_2025-apr_2026\/\">four<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Feature Updates<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As promised in April, we delivered the \u201cCopy API Query\u201d feature for Advanced Search. You can now run a search once on our website and then grab the query to use on the command line, if you\u2019re using curl, or formatted for popular scripting languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"display:none;\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lacnic.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/fig1-peeringdb-sept-26.jpg\" alt=\"fig1-peeringdb-sept-26\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Fig: Copy Advanced API box<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019ve also introduced an in-page map in the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.peeringdb.com\/advanced_search\">Advanced Search<\/a> pages where it\u2019s relevant. You activate the feature using the slider in your profile. Then you\u2019ll be able to see the distribution of facilities across a city as well as seeing them in a table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lacnic.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/fig2-peeringdb-sept-26.jpg\" alt=\"fig2-peeringdb-sept-26\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Fig: In page map showing interconnection facilities around Buenos Aires<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, you can always download a .KMZ formatted<a href=\"https:\/\/public.peeringdb.com\/peeringdb.kmz\">file of all facilities<\/a>, which you can view in many GIS applications. The advantage of that option is the ability to show and hide multiple layers of data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Operational changes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We tested a change to our deployment process in August by<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.peeringdb.com\/blog\/public_beta\/\">removing the public beta period<\/a> and going straight to production deployment at the end of internal testing. This followed feedback that the public beta is no longer necessary. We didn\u2019t get any feedback on August\u2019s test, so we\u2019re making the change permanent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recognise that major changes will need a public beta period. So when we develop a significant change to the UI or API we will run a public beta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019ve also redeveloped our internal operations dashboard. All PeeringDB volunteers will gain access to it in September and we\u2019ll make it public later in the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lacnic.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/fig3-peeringdb-sept-26.jpg\" alt=\"fig3-peeringdb-sept-26\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Fig: Extract from operations dashboard<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Data quality<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">James Bensely suggested some changes to the way we publish AS-SET names and we implemented his ideas. We now:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Over September we\u2019re updating set names to show which IRR an AS-SET is in. e.g. AS11058:AS-CONE will be shown as LACNIC::AS11058:AS-CONE.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When we aren\u2019t sure which IRR should be listed we\u2019re contacting the network and asking them to update it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We\u2019ve introduced a new editor to help you show the set name unambiguously.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lacnic.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/fig4-peeringdb-sept-26.gif\" alt=\"fig4-peeringdb-sept-26\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Fig: New AS-SET name editor<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have a couple of minor refinements associated with these improvements coming in then next month or two. For instance, we\u2019ll let you know if the AS-SET name is already used elsewhere in PeeringDB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Looking forward<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019re introducing some new metadata values. From next month you\u2019ll be able to signal the date on which you\u2019re joining or leaving an exchange, your MTU, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019ve published a discussion document for a new PeeringDB API. The two key drivers are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To let us separate the read and write parts of our architecture, which will let us place PeeringDB instances in many places.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To enable some more efficient queries. For instance, \u201ca network with its exchange presences, an exchange with its members, or a facility with its occupants.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you or a colleague use our API, please read the draft and subscribe to the<a href=\"https:\/\/lists.peeringdb.com\/cgi-bin\/mailman\/listinfo\/pdb-apiv3-discuss\">API v3 discussion list<\/a>. We want your input so we can refine the design before implementing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019re also looking at how we can let users know if a network\u2019s published maximum prefix count is smaller than the observed number of prefixes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most of our users are human. But we\u2019ve noticed a lot of automated searches by AI systems. To help these users make efficient use of PeeringDB we\u2019ll set up an MCP server and publish an Agent Skills directory in<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/peeringdb\/peeringdb\">peeringdb\/peeringdb<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But while AI systems are good at automating some things for us, we could also improve some of our own comparison tools. We have ideas for improvements to make. Please leave a<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/peeringdb\/peeringdb\/issues\/1979\">comment in the issue<\/a> if you\u2019d like us to enhance our comparison tool to do things like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Given 2 IXes, show the list of common networks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Given 2 Facilities, show the list of common networks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Given an ASN (A) and a location, the nearest IX that ASN (B) is present<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have an idea to improve PeeringDB you can share it on our low traffic<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.peeringdb.com\/#mailing-lists\">mailing lists<\/a> or create an issue directly on<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/peeringdb\/peeringdb\/issues\">GitHub<\/a>.
