For 2025, the RPKI Steering Group, which includes RPKI experts from the five RIRs, set out to work on two main areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0\"><\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0\"><\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Enhancing the transparency, robustness and security of the RPKI system.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Increasing the consistency of the RPKI system user experience across RIRs.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Our first objective is to gain a better understanding and make progress toward improved transparency, robustness, and security of the RPKI system, with a key focus on publishing a consultation for the technical community that puts forth a solution to current concerns regarding the RPKI trust anchor configuration. The RIRs are working on a formal specification to communicate Internet Number Resources (INR) constraints for each Trust Anchor. A draft of this specification will be shared with the technical community later this year for feedback and discussion, and keep your eyes peeled for a blog article that will share more about the specification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For our second objective, we hope to increase the consistency of the RPKI system user experience. This involves consolidating RPKI-related documentation, standardising terminology, and aligning on recommended best practices. As part of this objective, we have agreed on a list of RPKI features and services that we consider to be core to the RPKI system:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hosted service<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Delegated service<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>API for ROA management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ASPAs through Member portal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ASPAs through API<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Short-lived Trust Anchor certificates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<section class=\"acf-view acf-view--id--21788 acf-view--object-id--30698\"><div class=\"acf-view__texto_fijo acf-view__row\"><div class=\"acf-view__texto_fijo-field acf-view__field\"><div class=\"acf-view__texto_fijo-choice acf-view__choice\">Additional reading:<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"acf-view__enlace acf-view__row\"><div class=\"acf-view__enlace-field acf-view__field\"><a target=\"_self\" class=\"acf-view__enlace-link acf-view__link\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.lacnic.net\/en\/nro-rpki-program-2024-in-review\/\">NRO RPKI Program \u2013 2024 in review<\/a><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n<p>In the second half of 2025, we plan to publish a roadmap for these core features and services to be offered by all RIRs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The RPKI Steering Group has also agreed on a set of features that we believe would be nice to have in future releases, and will work toward implementing those across RIRs when possible:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hybrid service (Publication as a service)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Signed Trust Anchor Locator<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>RPKI Signed Checklists<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BGPsec<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Testing environment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, we have been working on a comprehensive gap analysis of RPKI user interfaces across all RIRs. We have also published an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nro.net\/technical-coordination\/nro-rpki-program\/rpki-content-repository\/\">RPKI content repository<\/a> that contains links to relevant RPKI content from the five RIRs.
