{"id":26980,"date":"2024-08-26T13:31:55","date_gmt":"2024-08-26T13:31:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.lacnic.net\/?p=26980"},"modified":"2024-09-23T14:27:59","modified_gmt":"2024-09-23T14:27:59","slug":"are-differences-in-rir-rpki-implementations-hindering-rpki-adoption","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lacnic.net\/en\/are-differences-in-rir-rpki-implementations-hindering-rpki-adoption\/","title":{"rendered":"Are differences in RIR RPKI implementations hindering RPKI adoption?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.lacnic.net\/en\/author\/sofia-silva-berenguer\/\">Sof\u00eda Silva Berenguer<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A few months ago <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.lacnic.net\/en\/specific-outcomes-of-the-nro-rpki-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">we shared<\/a> the outcomes that are guiding the work that we are doing as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nro.net\/technical-coordination\/security\/certification\/#rpki_program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NRO RPKI Program<\/a>. We mentioned that we would like to know more about the community\u2019s expectations with regard to consistency in RPKI implementation across the Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) with the end goal of defining what a single, global RPKI system would look like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want to know more about the experience of managing resources through multiple RIRs to understand whether the differences in the RIRs&#8217; RPKI implementations are hindering RPKI adoption, specifically Route Origin Authorization (ROA) creation, and if so, which differences are the most painful. This will allow us to focus on making those aspects of the RPKI system more consistent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this in mind, we will be conducting a survey, inviting network operators responsible for IP space allocated by different RIRs to ask them about what stage of the RPKI adoption journey they are at, and what barriers they may have experienced or are currently experiencing. Survey participants will have the option to volunteer to participate be interviewed, so we can dig deeper into some of their answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are you a network operator responsible for IP space allocated by multiple RIR?
