It is part of <a href=\"https:\/\/fortproject.net\/\">FORT<\/a>, a project\nled by LACNIC and NIC Mexico that seeks to increase Internet routing system\nsecurity through resource certification. As part of the FORT project, LACNIC\nand NIC Mexico have developed an <a href=\"https:\/\/fortproject.net\/validator\">RPKI validator<\/a>\nand a <a href=\"ttps:\/\/fortproject.net\/wicket\/resource\/net.lacnic.fortweb.HomePage\/assets\/reports\/FORT-Report-ver-9ECEAD789C29A7C1945BFC4C084F6DAE.pdf\">diagnostic\nreport<\/a> which analyzes routing incidents and route hijacks\nthat have occurred in the LAC region over the past three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FORT\nMonitoring.<\/strong> The FORT Monitoring tool includes <a href=\"https:\/\/monitor.fortproject.net\/overview?2\">a section\ncontaining basic<\/a> information for decision makers,\nactivists and a non-technical audience. FORT Monitoring also offers users with\na technical profile more <a href=\"https:\/\/monitor.fortproject.net\/overview?0#technical.\">advanced\ntools<\/a> that allow them to access detailed information by prefix\nand autonomous system. It also includes <a href=\"https:\/\/monitor.fortproject.net\/monthly_report?1\">monthly reports<\/a>\nwith the most relevant information, to which users can subscribe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal of\nFORT Monitoring is to provide real-time information on routing security in the\nregion, noted Carolina Caeiro, Development Project Coordinator at LACNIC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Considered\nto be one of the pillars of the Internet, the global routing system is under\nconstant pressure and vulnerable to attack. Whether deliberate or accidental, a\nfailure in this system may affect the ability of users and organizations to\ninterconnect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For years,\nLACNIC has been working together with other organizations on the deployment of\ntechnologies to protect the routing system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>RPKI Deployment. <\/strong>This\ntechnology, which is currently in the process of being deployed worldwide and\nacross the region, allows protecting the routing system against a large number\nof attacks. In order for the routing system to be protected, coverage should\ncontinue to increase and be as close to 100% as possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to FORT Monitoring, last month, RPKI deployment for IPv4 prefixes reached 22.3% in the region, while for IPv6 prefixes it totaled 23%.
