As part of its annual tour to meet with its members, in 2019 LACNIC’s Services and Technology departments visited fifty Internet companies and organizations in Ecuador, Costa Rica, Panama, Belize and Curazao.

The purpose of the meetings was to promote IPv6 deployment across the region and to engage member organizations in LACNIC events and activities.

Ecuador. LACNIC participated in the MikroTik User Meeting (MUM), where a stand was set up and more than 200 one-on-one meetings with small Internet organizations were held. The LACNIC staff then visited members in Cuenca, Quito and Guayaquil. During these visits, LACNIC highlighted the importance of IPv6 development and the assistence that LACNIC members can receive to begin their deployment and train their employees in this version of the protocol. Members were also introduced to the broad offering of training courses available through the LACNIC Campus and the many RIR services available to them which they may have been unaware of.

Panama and Costa Rica. This year’s member visit schedule also included attending the Andina Link telecommunications fair that took place in September in San Jose, Costa Rica. Over the two days of the fair, the LACNIC stand received dozens of visitors interested in their services. The LACNIC team then held personalized meetings with nine Internet organizations of Costa Rica. The tour also included a trip to Panama to focus on seven meetings with various members and organizations to promote the LACNIC 32 LACNOG 2019 event.

This year, LACNIC’s plan to visit its members had kicked off during the first half of 2019 with a tour of Belize and Curazao.
